The History of pop music in Iran
Iran’s national music combines styles from before and after Islam. Iran’s music is often a standard version of these styles. The country’s music is mostly based on twelve ancient Magham modes, seven of which come from the Dastgah mode and five from the Awaz mode.
Shoor, Mahoor, Segah, Nava, Chahargah, Homayoon, and Past Panjgah are the seven Dastgah forms. Isfahan, Abou Ate, Dashti, Afshari, and Bayat-e-Tork are the cities that make up the five Awazes.
